Insanity [Iteration 3]

Main Ideas
  • Titles: Insanity
  • X:
Idea brainstorm
  • Player attacks an already controlled brain (to make it insane, or fighting insanity to make him sane?)
  • Player(s) attempt to take over an uncontrolled (or possibly there are default defenses, which are easily overcome, in each lobe) while the opposing force attacks from the other end of the battlefield.(Think Risk, attack and defend countries)
  • Battlefield changes as the insanity side gets closer to winning/losing.
  • Minimap is in shape of a brain, showing different lobes. Each lobe represents a zone that can be taken control of. Each lobe offers buffs to units, new units to build, and/or more spawning locations.
  • Picking which lobes you conquer first is the strategy as it will aid in further capture.
  • Players choose rally points where their minions attack to. (if lobe is already theirs, they fortify it.)
  • Players choose which soldier type spawns from each spawning area.

  1. I really like how you guys are getting some reference photos! Do you have a visual of how this is going to look or what the enemies/allies would look like?

  2. I think the really important thing in this is clearly identifying how it's RTS, and what tasks you accomplish to meet the objective of the game. I'm having a rough time visualizing how this works still, but love the theme and how you guys are writing things down to manage any kinks the concept might have.

  4. I'll add this, but each "lobe" is similar to a country in risk. Rather than having control of your army in the traditional rts style, you would choose rally points for where your troops move after spawning, as well as what troops spawn.

Using this mechanic you can send troops to attack a lobe, in attempt to take control; or you send them to fortify and defend a section already under your control.
