For reference and to summarize what I'm imagining for the design page we are going to use in our presentation Tuesday, I think it would be best if we have a main screen where we demo the general combat (two prisms sending out a couple light waves each and showing some light wave collisions, a laser in action destroying a wave, etc). Then on the side, have three small picture showing the three different levels of the laser. On the other side, four pictures showing four different types of spectrum based light waves.
Also, a really (REALLY) simple picture to express the gist.
Of course feel free to suggest any changes. Cheers!

Here is a slightly updated mockup:
All I have done right now is putting a border (was aiming to do something along this line: http://www.desktopsidebar.com/fileforum/dsa2305.png) around the spectrum at the bottom of the image, and retouched the units interacting with the explosions so they would look less blocky. Not sure about how the slider would appear, so I left that alone (It could be made into a glass bead inserted into a frame).
BTW, what kind of smartphone should I put the mockup into?

Some of the problems we had with out last presentation were(as told by our class and Marty) are:
ReplyDelete- How is everything deployed(units)?
- Unit/Hero art
- Full screen shot
- Abilities of units
- How combat works
- Game Summary, Executive Summary, Game features
It looks like we are doing a much better job this iteration. We just have to make sure people understand the gameplay. Are we going to have a graphic of someone sliding their finger upward or something(Same with deploying the laser)?
Major features could include:
ReplyDelete- Fast and competitive gameplay(possibly multiplayer)
- Touchscreen and tilt capabilities
- Beautifully bright units and explosions
- Customization of your units with loadout screen
To Max's comment, this graphic was updated on the other post: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lHLpzY9EK3U/Tm1eQd5Ir8I/AAAAAAAAAAU/1L7-6JqFi80/s1600/Thousands+of+Lights.png
ReplyDeleteI think with the slider present it isn't too difficult for we as presenters to explain its purpose, whether or not we keep its location or appearance. With the deployment... Well, it might be nice to put a finger in there for visual understanding, but we can survive without it too, so I'll leave it to Hayden on that one. =)
We might need to update the interface slightly, maybe framing the slider (and the hp bar if present) with black glass?
ReplyDeleteI was curious, who is actually presenting and would they mind dressing up a little bit for the presentation?

I think that interface might look nice. Jack can you send me some reference photos to see what you mean?

Hayden, did you find a finger showing how to use the slider bar or spectrum?
ReplyDeleteHayden, are you feeling good about the way the light units look? I think I like what you did better than doing arrows.
ReplyDeleteI keep forgetting to ask, but did we decide on how the units can be customized? So, 4 different types of units can be chosen right? With what abilities?
ReplyDelete"I was curious, who is actually presenting and would they mind dressing up a little bit for the presentation?"
ReplyDeleteThe presentation group is likely to include some combination between Hayden, Adam, and me. I can avoid wearing something "t-shirty", but I own very few nice things and they have to be worn on work days, so I can't really dress up more than maybe a "nice casual"... Though if we could all aim for at least that, that seems like a good idea.
The light units look sweet with the wave patterns, and we can deal with color changes later on depending on whether or not this game concept is pursued.
For the would-be smart phone, I'm a fan of the Droid's outline to house the screenshot.
When will we get the other images (showing unit-to-unit interactions, etc.)? I'm not at home yet, but plan to put everything together when I arrive.
A Droid, such as this one? http://images.tmcnet.com/tmc/misc/articles/Image/Droid_X_front_Home-H4-Web.jpg
ReplyDeleteIf so, then I'm on it.
Thank you for being proactive on that!
